You see the first production prototype of the Hennessey Venom F5 – the long-awaited all-American hypercar with 300mph+, and spoiler warnings … it doesn’t disappoint. Let’s start with the name F5, taken from the Fujita tornado intensity scale. The F5 is most intense with wind speeds of up to 318mph – a number that is brought into focus in a few paragraphs.
The Venom F5 base material ensures amazing readability. Hennessey plans to build just 24 of these hypercars – 12 for the US market and 12 more for the rest of the world – at a cost of $ 2.1 million per inhabitant plus tax (up from the original price of 1.6 Million US dollars), and the F5 is aiming for a top speed of over 311mph (500 kph for European types).
Inside, we see more of the jet fighter inspiration that HPE is seeking outside. More importantly, companies don’t want bullshit. If it doesn’t help the driver while driving, technicians and designers break it down. The butterfly doors open and the cockpit reveals its steering wheel, which is based heavily on Formula 1 cars and planes.
It houses all the essential functions for windows, doors, lights, indicators and all that good. There is a 7.0-inch screen in front of the driver and a 9.0-inch infotainment device to the right. What about the HVAC control? A circular controller with a 1.3 inch display controls all of this along with a touch screen. The gear selector switch is located directly below it. This is, to be honest, a nice looking cockpit with lots of leather and carbon fiber.
The F5 engine is a 6.6-liter twin-turbo V8 engine called the Fury that delivers over 1,792 horsepower at 8,000 rpm and 1,192 lb ft of torque at 5,000 rpm, making it the most powerful road car engine in the world, at least for now World is. Thanks to its tailor-made carbon body, carbon panels and much more, it weighs 1,360 kg dry, only 30 kg more than the Ferrari F8 Tributo … but more than 1,000 hp more. Power-to-weight ratio 1,298 hp per ton. I’ll let that take effect for a moment.
Early simulations predicted a simple time of 0 to 62 mph in 2.6 seconds, followed by fireworks: 0-124 mph in 4.7 seconds and 0-250 mph in 15.5 seconds. The last number? More than twice as fast as the Bugatti Chiron and more than seven seconds faster than the Koenigsegg Regera – the current 0-250-0mph champion. The target for the top speed is 500 km / h, the theoretical top speed (taking into account the limiter and the gear ratio of 8,500 rpm) is 340 km / h, although the actual top speed with limited air resistance is between the two numbers.
