Ducati has updated the SuperSport for 2021, delivering a Panigale V4-inspired styling and six-axis inertial measurement unit bringing it in line Euro 5 standard. Ducati has officially added a “950” to its model name, which is interesting as it shows another shift in progress. At this point, however, the line-up for 2021 will consist of a SuperSport 950 and a SuperSport 950 S.
The Supersport 950 will available in Australia in May 2021 start from $ 19,390, while the S model will start at $ 21,850. The maintenance intervals are every 15,000 km or 12 months, with the valve clearance checked every 30,000 km.
At first glance, the new bodywork is the real change to the Ducati SuperSport 950, as the Ducati Style Center takes inspiration from the Panigale V4 and adds it to the sports tourer. So watch out for the extra gil on the side fairings that are now protruding into the exhaust and help hide the exhaust collector and catalytic converter in the belly.
The chassis remains a steel trellis design with a single-sided swingarm. However, the engine uses a stressed member and a frame element releases the two cylinder heads. Ducati equips the SuperSport 950 with a six-axis IMU that controls the cornering ABS, lean-sensitive traction control, and wheelie control. There’s also an up / down quickshifter in the mix that’s standard on the Base and S models, and it’s all controlled from the 4.3-inch TFT dash unit.
The SuperSport 950 is powered by a 937 cc Ducati Testastretta 11 ° twin cylinder engine that has been redesigned to meet the Euro 5 standard (in countries where regulations apply).
Interventions in the exhaust system and the engine management are unchanged compared to the full-body output at all engine speeds and maximum power and torque values. They are confirmed with 110 hp at 9,000 rpm and 93 Nm at 6,500 rpm. The oil bath clutch is now engaged by a new hydraulic control with a self-bleeding radial pump with an adjustable lever.
