By | December 21, 2020

The 2021 KTM 890 Adventure R is positioned as a new series-ready, off-road ADV range from KTM. However, the limited edition 890 Adventure R Rally is equipped with components inspired by racing specifications. The development used the feedback from Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team riders Toby Price and Sam Sunderland.

When the best spots are the hardest to get to, the KTM 890 Adventure R is the machine to get you there. This new, travel-capable offroad motorcycle features a new engine with increased capacity and added performance and is ready for extreme escapes off the beaten track. With its extensive racing knowledge and experience, KTM presents a real package for riders who want to explore the outer limits of any adventure.

Bodywork

The overall geometry of the KTM 890 Adventure R was developed for light handling and comfort on long-distance exploration missions – with unmatched off-road capabilities. The strength plays an important role in the design. Therefore, tubular chromoly steel frames are used with engine that act as compression members to reduce overall weight and size. All design and engineering innovations are designed to be compact and lightweight.

The signature die-cast, open-lattice swingarm is precisely manufactured and optimized for stiffness and stability, but still offers outstanding flexible characteristics. The direct link to the rear shock reduces complexity and parts. The relatively long swing arm regulates traction, stability and suspension.

Engine

The new 889cc LC8c engine is 90cc larger than the 790 model. Bore, stroke, and compression increase horsepower and torque while adding 20% more rotating mass to the crankshaft to improve smoothness and grunt at low revs. According to KTM, the result is a bike that turns corners and carries all of your camping gear and passengers with less effort.

However, the off-road handling cannot be ignored. With a suspension travel of 7.9 inches (200 mm) and ergonomics inspired by the Dakar Rally, the bike is elegant and agile on the trail. In conjunction with the accessible seat height (33.5 inches), the low fender for better aerodynamics, a 20-liter tank and a KTM MY RIDE with on-board navigation, you can comfortably continue driving on a variety of different terrains.
